My name is Carolyn.  I'm a follower of Jesus and the creator of Standing Ground.  I'm the wife of an amazing godly man, and mom to two terrific teenagers and two felines.  I am also a writer, editor, and former radio journalist.

 

The purpose of Standing Ground is to exhort and encourage, inform and amuse, with articles, quotes, commentary, ideas, links and more. Starting a Website/blog/podcast was not originally part of my personal agenda, but in the past few months, God has impressed on me how much we need each other, and we need Him if we're going to navigate life today without losing our marbles.  Through Standing Ground, I hope to engage fellow believers with material that reminds Christians that we belong to Christ, and can rest in His care.  At the same time, we must deal with the icky stuff, without letting it defeat us. Together, we can intelligently and creatively face down the evil that has invaded our culture.

The good news in this world of shifting shadows, is that we serve a God who never changes.  He is not threatened by evil, He has never stopped loving the world and the people He created.  He calls us to be faithful stewards of the gifts He has given us, no matter how tarnished they are. We may be hypocritical and broken, but that’s what it is to be humans:  humans God loves enough to redeem.  In Christ, we have new life, a hopeful future, and an important job to do right now, standing firm on the Rock of God’s Word, with our eyes on the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

 

Let’s remember who we are in Christ, and walk forward together; exhorted, encouraged, informed, and laughing.
